How squirrels get into roof spaces

Hole made by a squirrel

The first thing to do when dealing with squirrels in a loft is to find their entry point – until this is found and blocked off, the problem will keep happening (squirrels will follow the scent markers left by each other). In this case, we found a hole that had obviously been made some time ago – this problem had been going on intermittently for a while before we were called.

This hole – and the one under the tile to the right (out of picture) were covered with a metal mesh, screwed in place to make sure they can’t work loose. Placed against the woodwork, it won’t affect any future gutter cleaning operations and is almost invisible from ground level.  Job done and squirrel’s banned from another roof!
