Rodents disturb insulation

Indications of rodents

When rodents – rats or mice in this case – get into the cavity wall of a home they often disturb any insulation in that space. In this image, the white round balls are Polystyrene and were pumped into the cavity to help insulate it. Finding this material behind the kickboards in a kitchen, as here, or outside in the garden are usually signs that a rodent has disturbed it. This helps us work out where a rodent is going – but usually doesn’t help us figure out how it got in the home in the first place.
